Visual Inspection: Are all crop lifters aligned?
The crop lifter can be damaged by significant ground unevenness or by possible collisions with large stones. A deformed crop lifter should be replaced. If the crop lifter is not the cause of the uneven alignment of the crop lifter tips, the mounting rail on the cutting unit must be checked. Damage can also occur there due to collisions with foreign objects. If such damage is detected, it must be professionally repaired to ensure optimal alignment for the crop lifters and, equally, for the optimal function of the entire cutting system.
Check Preload and Skid Shoe
Check each crop lifter individually to ensure there is preload against the guard in an unloaded state. This can be easily checked by manually lifting the tip of the crop lifter. If it shows no preload and thus sits loosely with noticeable play on the guard, it must be replaced. The skid shoe must also be checked for wear. If it is heavily worn on the underside, i.e., the ground-facing side, stability is no longer guaranteed. Crop lifters showing high wear or even ground-through areas in the sliding zone should also be replaced to ensure trouble-free harvesting.
