Group Schumacher expands its business activities in northeast Asia by opening the Group Schumacher North East Asia subsidiary in Qingdao. With the move the group intends to more effectively harness the potential of the growing markets for knotter and cutting technology in southeast Asia.
Group Schumacher, headquartered in Eichelhardt, Germany, is one of the world’s leading suppliers of systems and component to the agricultural machinery manufacturers. The medium-sized, owner-run group develops, manufactures and markets systems and components for harvesters, chiefly combine harvesters and balers.

In line with its strategy as the world’s leading supplier of components for cutting and tying systems on balers and combine harvesters, Group Schumacher anticipates that the new local office will strengthen its position in the northeast Asian markets.

“Although not new in the Chinese market, our decision to pursue a more consistent policy for our multi-brand products in China, Japan and South Korea by setting up a separate sales team strengthens our commitment in these markets,” says Arno Dittmar, Managing Director of the Schumacher.plus sales company. Mr Dittmar has been in charge of setting up the Chinese sales office. “With more and more Chinese farmers using more professional machinery we see great opportunities for cooperations with OEM manufacturers of combine harvesters and balers and equally good opportunities in the aftersales market where products Made in Germany enjoy an excellent reputation. Operating via a cooperation with a partner company, Group Schumacher has been successful in the Chinese knotter business for small square balers since the 1990s. “However, the Chinese market suggests that a stronger and more sustained commitment is indispensable for further growth in line with our strategy,” says Mr Dittmar. The new sales company will however not cover the southeast sales regions of Asia. These will continue to be served from Germany by SCHUMACHER.plus for the time being.

Mr Wang is a 36-year old engineer who studied mechanical and industrial engineering in Germany and worked here for many years before he returned to China in 2015 on behalf of a German manufacturer. After receiving several months of training at the Group Schumacher headquarters in Eichelhardt and Wermelskirchen, Germany, he feels well prepared for the new project in China.

It is very important for Schumacher to attend the Ciame trade fair in Wuhan. This is already the third time that Group Schumacher is exhibiting here, debuting as a Chinese company in 2018.

Group Schumacher North East Asia is based in Qingdao which is the ideal location thanks to the good infrastructure, the seaport and the proximity to other German companies, including some agricultural machinery manufacturers.

“Based in the German Enterprise Center of the Sino-German-Ecopark we simply enjoy the very best conditions”, says Peng Wang, General Manager of Schumacher (Qingdao) Agriculture Equipment Co.
